This is a joint initiative from the cities of Barcelona, Athens, Stockholm, Lisbon and Rotterdam looking into three shared social challenges to find effective solutions to be implemented at a local level.
Eurocities, Obra Social de la Caixa and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation are the organisers of the ACSI (Acceleranting change for social inclusion), a project for European cities to work on together in identifying three shared social challenges, finding the most effective and scalable solutions, and explore individually how they can be implemented at a local level.
The process includes sharing with other cities in the Eurocities network the knowledge that is generated on successful solutions, the lessons learnt from the adaptation and implementation of best practices so they can be scaled.
To be exact, the project looks into the three following social challenges: how to maximise opportunities for children at risk of exclusion; how to build better employment opportunities and pathways for young people; and how to generate opportunities for the long-term unemployed.
Seminar in Barcelona
On November 21st and 22nd, the capital of Catalonia will hold a seminar to introduce the social innovations targeting the three challenges. Innovations have been selected by a jury of local experts to facilitate their implementation on a local scale in the city.
