Ten years of defending human rights in which, among other things, the entity has promoted more than 50 temporary shelter programs for journalists and activists, promoted memory processes and international advocacy and produced 12 publications.
This year, Taula per México ( TxM ) celebrates ten years of collective work accompanying human rights defenders , journalists and activists, building networks of international solidarity and generating spaces of memory, art, reception and resistance between Mexico and Europe. From Barcelona, and with a presence and influence in spaces such as Brussels, Geneva, Luxembourg and Strasbourg, TxM has contributed for a decade to building bridges between organizations, social movements, institutions and communities on both sides of the Atlantic to strengthen the defense of human rights, global justice and international solidarity.
Born in 2016 as an articulation between people and groups committed to the defense of human rights and the construction of peace in Mexico and other territories crossed by violence, TxM has consolidated itself as a meeting space between activism, political advocacy , protection of human rights defenders and journalists, psychosocial support, culture, community and international cooperation.
Throughout this decade, TxM has promoted temporary shelter programs for human rights defenders and journalists at risk, accompanying 36 journalists and 17 defenders . It has also promoted processes of memory, denunciation and international advocacy; cultural and artistic activities; training spaces; international solidarity campaigns and collective actions aimed at making structural violence visible and strengthening support networks between Mexico and Europe.
In the field of research and knowledge production, TxM has produced 12 publications , including analysis, memory and awareness-raising materials such as reports, articles, compilations and, more recently, the book ' Seguir contándolo. Crónica del programa Barcelona Protege a Periodistas de México' (2025), by Sandra Vicente and Majo Siscar, a work that collects testimonies and reflections on violence, resistance and support for journalists at risk.
TxM has also consolidated itself as a reference interlocutor for various local, state and European institutions , regularly participating in spaces for dialogue and advocacy with bodies such as the Parliament of Catalonia, the Congress of Deputies, the European Parliament, the European Commission and different international mechanisms for the protection of human rights.
Through these actions, TxM has contributed to building bridges between organizations, social movements, institutions and communities on both sides of the Atlantic, promoting international solidarity and the defense of human rights from a transnational perspective.
These ten years have been possible thanks to the participation of hundreds of individuals , organizations, artists, advocates, journalists and communities who have contributed to building a living space of mutual support , critical reflection and collective action. The celebration of this anniversary commemorates an organizational journey and recognizes the multiple voices, struggles and affections that have made it possible to sustain this space throughout all these years.
A party to celebrate resistance and bonds
Next Saturday, June 27 , TxM will celebrate a great cultural and community day in Can Batlló (Barcelona), open to all citizens.
Throughout the day, activities will be developed for diverse audiences that will combine reflection, art, participation and celebration , including popular circus, live music, editorial presentations, theater, dance, performance, artistic installations, DJ sessions and the Artivista Talent Competition, an initiative that seeks to make visible projects committed to social transformation through artistic creation.
The day aims to become a meeting place for communities, organizations, artists and people committed to the defense of human rights, global justice, feminism, anti-racism and the collective construction of alternatives. The activity has been woven together with the Mujeres Pa'lante Association .
