The UN General Assembly has declared as a theme of this year’s Peace Day the end of racism to build Peace.

The International Day of Peace, established in 1981 and celebrated each 21th of september, is this year foccusing on ending racism around the world. Taking into acount the amount of violance, wars, discriminations and conflicst across the globe due to racism, The UN General Assembly wants to achieve a world where all the people can be treated equally.

As Secretary-General António Guterres has said “racism continues to poison institutions, social structures, and everyday life in every society. It continues to be a driver of persistent inequality. And it continues to deny people their fundamental human rights. It destabilizes societies, undermines democracies, erodes the legitimacy of governments, and… the linkages between racism and gender inequality are unmistakable.”

In this way, building peace doesn’t mean laying down arms, it means to work together and each one of us to end with this kind of injustices. Let's celebrate this September 21 without racism and make sure it lasts forever.
