On 28 and 29 September, professionals in this field from around Europe will be meeting to discuss policies and discover some cultural projects carried out in the city.
The idea is for this meeting to become a reference and model for other cities that are part of the European network Culture Action Europe (CAE), which Terrassa joined in 2015. CAE is the largest network in Europe for cultural organizations, artists, activists and people from the academia and politics.
This meeting of actors from the cultural fields coming from different European countries is framed under the project “Culture for sustainable cities: Learning with Culture 21, Actions in Europe”, which is promoted by the Committee on Culture of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and CAE. Previous work sessions have been held in Lisbon (Portugal) and Izmir (Turkey).
The sessions will be grouped under four thematic blocs: “Contemporary Creation, Gender and Cultural Rights”, “Culture and Public Spaces”, “Public and Social Projects” and “Culture, Public Space and Social Economy”.
Participants will take part in a broad working programme and a range of activities, many of which will be peer learning, as a part of implementing the project.
The programme also includes many visits to learn about projects in the city such as the festivals Elixir or Terrassa Noves Tendències (TNT), the Parc Audiovisual de Catalunya, the recovery and restoration of the Condicionament Terrassenc as a cultural space, the Sant Jordi park or the new civic centre of La Maurina.
