The Danish capital is warming up to host the 32nd Adifolk international gathering from 25 to 28 April.

Returning to the annual event, held around Saint George’s Day, a sample of Catalan traditional and folk culture led by Catalonia’s most famous dance, the Sardana, will travel abroad with the Adifolk international gathering.

The city hosting this 32nd edition will be Copenhagen from 25 to 28 April as the special guest at the ’48 Timer Festival’.

Music bands, traditional popular dances, 'bastoners', 'bestiari de foc', 'capgrossos', human towers, 'esbarts', 'diables', choirs or sardana dance groups will take part in an event that will also include exhibition and tasting of Catalan cuisine. All in all, there will be around 500 members from 25 groups filling the streets and squares of Nørrebro with Catalan folk and traditions.

32 years of history

The Adifolk international gathering was established in 1988 to disseminate Catalan folk culture around Europe. The first edition was held in Amsterdam with the title “International Sardana gathering”. In successive editions, other areas of Catalan folk culture were included until in 2012, coinciding with its 25th anniversary, it took its current name.
