On December 10, Catesco and UNESCO will host a special edition of the UNESCO Master Class Series against Racism and Discrimination during the 4th Global Forum against Racism, in collaboration with the We Are Family Foundation and Guerrand-Hermès Foundation.
This edition focuses on school segregation as a systemic form of racism, disproportionately affecting children from migrant and low-income families. It highlights how segregation not only hinders academic success but also deepens social divides and fosters prejudice and hatred.
The event will also examine the role of education in addressing these issues, emphasizing the need for inclusive policies to counter segregation and promote the UNESCO principle of "learning to live together." Participants will discuss ways to create equitable learning environments that break down barriers and build mutual understanding across diverse communities.
It will explore solutions, including racial healing—a strategy to dismantle racial hierarchies and build political will for sustainable change—and will feature a conversation with artist and activist Nile Rodgers on art and social justice.
The Master Class will take place from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the Barcelona East School of Engineering (Diagonal-Besòs Campus, Building A), with simultaneous translation in English, Catalan, and French.
