In the face of escalating environmental challenges, art organizations demonstrate the power of creativity to raise awareness about the pressing issue of climate change.

From captivating artworks to thought-provoking installations, these organizations are employing their artistic prowess to inspire action and advocate for a sustainable future.

This is the case of these 5 organizations, which are museums, galleries, artist forums and platforms that make use of works and spaces to promote a social and sustainable message against climate change.

1. Gallery Climate Coalition

Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC) is an international community of arts organizations promoting environmental responsibility, aiming to reduce CO2e emissions by 50% by 2030. What stands out of this organization is that through its website, artists can calculate what their environmental footprint is by offering a Co2 calculator through a questionnaire.

The artists can answer the questions to be more aware of their environmental impact by calculating the Co2 according to the liters of paint, the sizes of the canvas, the type of transport... and if that wasn't enough, GCC offers a series of resources and good practices that offer a global view of data based on the impact of transport, the packaging of works, recycled materials, etc.

2. Climate Museum

This museum located in New York, strives to offer programs, works of art, exhibitions and talks about the environment. In that way, viewers not only see the works but the transformative and social role of art. In the past five years, the Climate Museum showcased eight exhibitions, held 300+ events, engaged 350+ high school students, and attracted thousands of visitors both in-person and online.

3. Artworks For Change

Art Works for Change, established in 2008, aims to use art's transformative power to promote awareness and action on critical issues like social justice, and environmental sustainability through national and international traveling exhibitions. Funded by forward-thinking entities, ArtWorks for Change's mission unites artists, museums, and communities as a force for positive change.

4. CLIMARTE

Climarte brings together a large alliance of arts organizations. Collaborates with artists, scientists, and activists to develop compelling artworks and engage public programs to raise awareness about environmental and climate issues, using the creativity and the help and participation of citizens so that its programs and activities have a real and direct impact.

5. Artists For Change

Artists for Change creates impactful film, TV, and multimedia projects that inspire positive social change. Narrative media, such as film, TV, podcasts, VR, and webseries, engage emotions and promote transformative understanding of messages and values. Socially conscious narratives visualize the impact of actions, mobilize communities, and empower youth to become leaders in their generation, offering grounded solutions through the empathy of storytelling in today's complex sociopolitical world.

These organizations demonstrate the unifying capacity of art as a universal language to combat social issuses. Through the lens of creativity, they offer hope and inspire collective action, empowering individuals to become catalysts for positive change in the face of one of humanity's most formidable challenges.
