European Volunteering Capital Aarhus 2018

In 2018, Aarhus has held the title as European Volunteering Capital. The title is given each year by the European Volunteer Centre (CEV) to a European city or municipality which has been particularly notable in terms of volunteering.

Given the climate emergency situation we are going through, and in the local/global context of urban population growth, it is urgent to seek solutions that mitigate the impacts of climate change on people's lives.

Across the European Union (EU), the legitimacy of civil society organisations is being increasingly questioned, at a moment when democracy needs them the most. 

The 2nd Prison Volunteer Meeting, held on April 18 in Barcelona, ​​put on the table a collective urgency: to stop looking at prison only from the perspective of punishment and start talking about dignity, reintegration and social responsibility.
