A project led by Fundació CODESPA Catalunya is helping vulnerable women in Tangier, Morocco, build sustainable textile businesses. The initiative combines entrepreneurship, circular economy and skills development to promote economic inclusion and environmental sustainability.

In northern Morocco, a project led by Fundació CODESPA Catalunya is supporting young women and migrant women in vulnerable situations to launch and strengthen environmentally sustainable textile businesses. The initiative combines vocational training, business development and circular economy principles to help participants achieve greater financial independence.

The programme focuses on transforming discarded textiles into new products, encouraging sustainable production methods that reduce waste while creating marketable goods. Alongside technical skills, participants receive training in entrepreneurship, financial management, marketing and business planning, equipping them with the tools needed to establish viable enterprises.

A key feature of the initiative is its personalised mentoring process. Participants receive ongoing guidance to help them develop their business ideas, improve their access to markets and strengthen their long-term prospects. The project also promotes collaboration among entrepreneurs, creating opportunities to build networks and explore cooperative business models.

The initiative targets women aged 18 to 35 who already have experience or interest in textile-related activities but face barriers to employment, training or access to business support. By investing in their entrepreneurial potential, the programme seeks to improve livelihoods while fostering social inclusion and economic resilience.

Beyond its social impact, the project highlights the role of the circular economy in sustainable local development. Reusing textile materials not only reduces environmental pressure but also creates new sources of income, demonstrating how green entrepreneurship can contribute to both economic growth and environmental protection.

Through this initiative, Fundació CODESPA Catalunya continues its commitment to international development by promoting inclusive, sustainable and environmentally responsible economic opportunities for vulnerable communities in Morocco.
