The aim is to denounce the serious violation occurring in many countries of the basic rights of LGBTI people, who can seek asylum in Spain.

'Do not hide: The right to asylum and LGBTI persecution' is an initiative launched by the Catalan Commission for Refugee Aid (CCAR), calling into question that migration is a voluntary move, as is often portrayed. The initiative seeks to open a discussion on the different forms of persecution, human rights violations and types of protection.

This webpage provides data on the situation lived by the LGBTI community around the world and testimonials of people who have been forced to seek refuge after suffering violence, abuse, severe discrimination and criminalization.

The page also provides information on the right to asylum, a glossary that can help better understanding some concepts and recommendations on what can be done when encountering certain situations.

Check the web page to learn more about this reality. You will find more information on persecution based on sexual orientation and gender identity, or on the right to asylum, in the publication 'Fleeing to avoid a life in hiding', and in the document 'Refugee trans people: Welcome to stay?'
