In Palestine there is an urgent need for humanitarian aid in order to deal with the impacts of the current crisis, but also in order to respond to the needs that will come from this crisis.

The population of Gaza is experiencing a chronic humanitarian crisis caused by a siege for more than 15 years. The systematic destruction of its infrastructure and the genocide of its population by the government of Israel repeatedly violates International Humanitarian Law. Since the beginning of October 2023, this situation has worsened causing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis with massive destruction throughout the Strip. To respond to this situation, from the Catalan Association for Peace we are launching a campaign of solidarity with the population of Gaza.

The Gaza Strip - with a population of just under two million inhabitants, half of whom are children, and with one of the highest population densities in the world - has, since 2007, been subjected to a total siege with a blockade by land, sea and air. Since October 2023, the Israeli offensive has imposed a blockade on the entry of food, fuel and humanitarian assistance; the cut off of electricity and water, and has further aggravated the conditions of the people who survive there.

At the same time, violence has increased exponentially in the West Bank ; Israeli military incursions are almost daily and violent settler attacks on the Palestinian population are increasing day by day. Raids, clashes, extrajudicial arrests, house demolitions and forced displacement by the Israeli state are constant. Numerous roads remain closed, checkpoints deployed by the Israeli army have been increased, as well as military checkpoints and constant troop traffic. In the last month of October alone, there have been more than 100 fatalities, more than 2,000 injuries and more than 1,200 people have been arrested.

The humanitarian action campaign will support the work of our local partner Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS), which provides care for people seriously injured by Israeli attacks. With this, we want to strengthen the capacities of the medical services, the equipment and the necessary health materials in the face of the emergency situation.
