Despite the fact that millions of people around the world are packing their bags to enjoy the summer holidays in search of rest and disconnection, international conflicts continue their course without pause

In regions such as the Middle East and Africa, armed clashes, political tensions and humanitarian crises have not stopped. The news of clashes in Gaza, the war in Ukraine, and the migration crisis in Europe remind us that, although many enjoy the summer season, global peace is still a distant goal.

This is a collection of 10 armed conflicts that are currently present:

War in Ukraine: The conflict between Ukraine and Russia is still one of the most intense, with continuous clashes and a growing humanitarian crisis.

Civil war in Syria: Although the intensity has decreased compared to previous years, Syria continues to experience clashes and serious humanitarian problems.

Conflict in Yemen: The civil war in Yemen continues to cause devastation, with government forces, Houthi rebels and various armed groups in constant struggle.

Conflict in Afghanistan: Clashes between the Taliban government and various insurgent groups, including the Islamic State of Khorasan (ISIS-K), persist.

Conflict in Ethiopia: The tensions in the region of Tigray and other ethnic conflicts in various parts of Ethiopia continue to result in violence and mass displacements.

Violence in Myanmar: Military repression against pro-democratic movements and conflicts with ethnic minorities continue to cause violence and displacement.

Conflict in the Central African Republic: Clashes between government forces and various rebel groups continue to affect the country.

Violence in South Sudan: Despite the peace agreements, clashes between different armed groups and ethnic conflicts persist.

Conflict in Somalia: The fight against the extremist group Al-Shabaab continues to be an important source of violence in the country.

Conflict in Gaza: The violence between Israel and militant groups in Gaza is still a recurring problem, with periodic escalations that affect the region.

It is crucial that, even during the holidays, attention and support is maintained for the causes that seek the resolution of these conflicts. The international community and tourists themselves can play a role in raising awareness and supporting organizations that work in conflict zones. When enjoying the summer, it is important to remember and act accordingly, knowing that peace and stability are fundamental for all, regardless of the season of the year.
