Humans are only a small piece within the complex gear that shapes Nature, although with our brain capacity we have been able to develop a technology that is very often incompatible with the balance of ecosystems and animal biology, becoming the most destructive part of the Planet.

In recent decades, the sensitivity for animals and the activism for their defense has grown to stand out as a social movement. Classics of philosophy and the renowned naturalist Charles Darwin already anticipated the human duty to extend its "compassionate circle" towards all creatures capable of suffering. The pressure of the associative and citizen animal movement has enabled changes that have been reflected in the legal system recognizing them as sensitive beings, legislating specific laws that try to regulate and favor a more humanitarian treatment.

Despite this, millions of animals continue to suffer abusive, cruel and unjustified treatment by humans as a result of recreational, experimental or industrial production activities. Even now, violent shows of animal abuse are allowed, such as running bulls which, in addition to causing suffering, distort the perception of children.

With animals we share emotions, feelings, suffering and needs. We have acted as the dominant controlling species of Nature by breaking the common bonds that unite us, to transform ourselves into a failed species, abusive and defiant of natural laws.

All living beings are part of the same unit and challenges against nature have negative responses that sooner or later manifest themselves. As an example: the disappearance of extensive cattle ranching, which, with its natural grazing process, cleared the scrub and the vegetation of the undergrowth, has led to an increase in forest fires.

Currently, ecological initiatives with the support of the administrations are trying to promote forest cleaning projects by returning sheep, goats and other animals to the natural environment. Intensive industrial livestock farming, in addition to the serious effects on animals, has considerable negative environmental consequences and for human health itself, such as water and air pollution, caused by nitrates, ammonia and emissions of greenhouse gases.

Humans are only a small piece within the complex gear that shapes Nature, although with our brain capacity we have been able to develop a technology that is very often incompatible with the balance of ecosystems and animal biology, becoming the most destructive part of the Planet.

In contrast, the rest of the species with their innate capacities and the wide range of senses and skills they are endowed with, have an irreplaceable role in maintaining the balance of ecosystems and biodiversity, signifying themselves as true builders of the Nature on which our very survival depends.

With a global perspective, the animalist and ecological movement has developed a matching activity in the defense of the natural space and the set of species. The ADDA , a dean organization in the defense of animals, was founded in 1976 with few resources, some misunderstanding and a very difficult task due to the absence of existing legislation in those years. The clear objectives and the determined and constant work of the people who have directed and participated in it, made it possible to achieve important historical advances. The associative concept, altruism and voluntary work have been key to promoting and consolidating a movement such as this, which is so necessary.
