The project “Cities defending Human Rights” will start its second autumn edition in October with 9 defenders from several countries.
‘Cities defending Human Rights’ is a project whereby a group of Human Rights defenders from around the world are invited to come to Catalonia for a short stay and participate in actions to publicize and explain the situations in their countries, as well as the tasks they perform, to gain visibility and support.
This year’s autumn edition will take place from 4th to 15th October in 15 municipalities around Catalonia with the exceptional testimonies of 9 human rights defenders from Brazil, Western Sahara, Colombia, India, Nicaragua, Mexico, El Salvador and Spain.
Giving testimony at conferences, institutional meetings, activities at educational centres and meetings with the media, etc. the aim is to raise awareness among citizens on the need to include the defence of human rights in their daily activities.
This is a joint project between the Fons Català de Cooperació al Desenvolupament, Comissió Catalana d’Ajuda al Refugiat, Institut de Drets Humans de Catalunya and Institut Català Internacional per la Pau, with the participation of Catalan municipalities and other institutions and organizations.
