The 38th edition of the meeting has been integrated into the programming of the Kulturfestivalen in the Swedish capital with the presence of 42 entities.
The traditional and popular culture of Catalonia was present this weekend in Stockholm (Sweden) as part of the 38th edition of the International Gathering organized by Adifolk . The event was attended by nearly 1,200 people from 42 different organizations, a figure that places it as the event with the most attendance to date.
For three days, the city's old town hosted bouncy castle performances, dance performances, fire displays and parades . These activities took place within the framework of the Kulturfestivalen , the annual street arts event that the Swedish city hosts every August.
Institutional presence and cultural relations
The event was attended by representatives from the Department of Culture and the Government Delegation to the Nordic Countries , which collaborated in coordination with the Stockholm City Council .
From the Ministry of Culture, Sònia Hernández highlighted the work of the entities and associations participating in the external projection of Catalan traditions, and pointed out that the presence in international festivals allows popular culture to be connected with the current context. Likewise, the Catalan delegation took advantage of the visit to hold working meetings with different professionals from the cultural sector who carry out their activity in the Swedish capital.
Financial funds and outreach projects
During this visit, the Department of Culture reported on the increase in the budget allocated to the General Directorate of Popular Culture and Cultural Associations, which amounts to 16.2 million euros , which represents an increase of 26.6% compared to the previous year. It also announced the development of a popular culture outreach project using immersive technologies , which is scheduled to be presented by the end of the year.
The Adifolk International Gathering began in 1988 and aims to disseminate the cultural heritage and Catalan associative fabric in different cities across Europe.
