The sport2live Foundation strengthens its participation in European social inclusion projects through sport
Sport can be much more than physical activity: it can also become a tool for inclusion, emotional learning and community transformation.
This is the view that the sport2live Foundation brings to the European projects in which it is currently participating, such as Edu4Impact, Sport4Change and ALIS, three initiatives that connect sport, youth, territory and social innovation.
The sport2live Foundation is currently participating in several European projects that share the same objective: using sport as an educational, community and social transformation tool. Through initiatives such as Edu4Impact, Sport4Change and ALIS, the entity consolidates an international line of work focused on inclusion, the development of personal and social skills, and the creation of opportunities for people and groups in vulnerable situations.
This European participation allows sport2live to share its experience in the use of physical activity as a tool for social support and, at the same time, to incorporate new methodologies, resources and learnings from other entities in the European territory. The projects have in common a vision that understands sport not only as a healthy practice, but also as a space for bonding, trust, learning and participation.
One of the projects in which the Foundation participates is Edu4Impact , an Erasmus+ initiative that promotes adult education through sport and socio-emotional learning. The project focuses on training professionals in the sports, educational and social fields so that they can apply tools based on Social-Emotional Learning, known as SEL, in contexts of social inclusion. Through this methodology, sport becomes a vehicle for working on skills such as self-awareness, emotional management, empathy, relational skills and responsible decision-making.
This year, the sport2live Foundation also begins its participation in Sport4Change , a European project that aims to get ten young people to use sport as a tool for social transformation within their immediate environment. The project is being developed in Barcelona in collaboration with CEL – Bon Pastor , an open youth center that offers free resources in the afternoon, such as professional training, job support and educational accompaniment.
During the first six months, young people will participate in workshops aimed at discovering the potential of sport in different areas, such as social cohesion, inclusion, teamwork, leadership and community participation. In a second phase, young people will go from being participants to becoming active agents of change. They will have to design, organize and execute sports events in their neighborhood, applying everything learned during the workshops and generating a direct impact on their community. Sport4Change also has an international dimension. The Italian organization Get Up, from Naples, will develop the same process with a group of young people from its territory.
The project will run until March 2027 and will include weekly face-to-face meetings with the young people, as well as monthly online meetings between the participants. This monitoring will allow for strengthening the bond between the groups, sharing the evolution of the process and providing continuity to the learning.
In parallel, the sport2live Foundation also participates in ALIS – Aventura Local d'Innovació Social , an Interreg Sudoe project that promotes social inclusion and the improvement of the employability of young people in rural and peri-urban territories through experiences based on outdoor sports. The project is based on the idea that outdoor activities can become a privileged space to work on life skills, emotional well-being, autonomy, confidence, cooperation and connection with the territory.
As part of the project, sport2live is promoting a pilot activity with a group of young people from Pallejà, which will take place on July 1, 2 and 3 in Ribes de Freser, in a natural setting. The group, initially made up of between five and eight young people, will participate in three days of nature and coexistence activities.
The aim of this experience is for young people to create a bond, work on personal and social skills, and connect the learning experienced during the activity with their own territory. After the meeting, there will be a six-month follow-up with the group, which will culminate in a final event in November in Pallejà. This continuity is key so that a real process of personal and community development can be generated.
Through these projects, the sport2live Foundation reinforces its commitment to a way of understanding sport that goes beyond physical activity. Edu4Impact, Sport4Change and ALIS show how sport can be a tool for learning, participating, building bonds and opening up new opportunities. They also demonstrate the value of European cooperation to share methodologies, generate knowledge and promote innovative responses to common social challenges.
For the sport2live Foundation, being part of these European projects means putting sport at the service of people, neighborhoods and territories, especially where it can have a more transformative social impact.
