On 22 May, the Federació d'Empreses d'Inserció de Catalunya (FEICAT) and the Taula del Tercer Sector Social de Catalunya hosted around fifteen social economy and non-profit organizations from Moldova.

The visit was held as part of the European Network of Social Integration Enterprises (ENSIE) with the growing collaboration of civil society from Moldova and the rest of Europe.

This visit contributed to giving visibility to the model and way of functioning of Catalan integration enterprises grouped under the FEICAT. Moldovan organizations participated in the visit and expressed a particular interest in the economic activity sectors of these enterprises, their institutional model and the way they ensure their sustainability over time. Even when, in the case of Moldova, these enterprises continue to represent a smaller sector of the economy than their Catalan counterparts, the experiences shared by Moldovan organizations were a proof of the growing relevance they are gaining.

The Taula del Tercer Sector hosted the Moldovan organizations within the framework of the “Territories in Transition” initiative, which aims at building common agendas and alliances among non-profit and social economy networks in different territories and countries around the world. This exchange happened within the growing articulation of Moldova’s non-profit sector, with a growing interest in aspects such as advocacy, strengthening democracy and improving public policies.

Moldovan civil society must play a fundamental role in strengthening democracy and improving the efficiency of social policies in the country in a complex geopolitical situation that is strongly marked by the war in Ukraine and accession to the EU.

The Taula expressed its solidarity with Moldovan organizations and supporting organizations such as the East Europe Foundation Moldova, which organized the visit. The shared agenda among both territories has focused on two concrete field of cooperation: institutional consolidation of the non-profit sector and exchanges on specific topics such as women’s rights, the rights of people living with disabilities and dealing with issues such as mental health, autism and drug dependency.

The Moldovan organizations used the remaining days of the visit to learn from the experiences of Catalan inclusion enterprises.
